Allow me to assist your family in celebrating your family history.
I'm Don Hancock, of Denton, Texas, enjoying a second (or third or fourth) career as a writer, editor, graphic designer, and multimedia producer. I work with families to preserve family history in products such as legacy books, video interviews, CD and DVD picture shows, and much more.
What can I do for you? I have excellent skills in interviewing, research, writing, graphic design, videography and video editing, and technical skills and computer/video equipment to package your family stories for customized delivery to your family.
My work credentials include a B.A. in journalism; three years work as a newspaper reporter and page-make-up editor; M.S. with 60 graduate hours in English language and literature; freshman composition instructor; Ph.D. in adult and continuing education; editor, contributor and/or designer of eight published books and journals; and for the last four years, contract developer of web-based, professional development instruction. As a lifelong learner, I stay up-to-date with the latest technology and have proficiency in tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, Encore, Dreamweaver, Flash, and Family Tree Maker. I own a high-end video camera (Sony PD-170) with a three-light set, backdrops, and professional microphones.
Your family deserves a personal historian who provides customization to what you want, with a professional finish to all materials developed, and with a literary/creative flair consistent with your family's tastes.
The proof is in the pudding. Please take a few minutes to review the work samples provided at this website.

write your family history
A family biography includes genealogical facts, family stories, and insights that show family uniqueness. Needed skills include a historian's eye for fact, a novelist's sense of story, and a therapist's understanding of family truths.
organize family photos, documents and film/video
Some pictures, video, etc., are "keeper" material, and some are not. Children, grandchildren and other relatives might appreciate an effort to "cull" family memorabila so that the best is available in a concise, informative and enduring format.
PRESERVE family HISTORY IN PRINT AND DIGITAL MEDIA FOR RELATIVES, FRIENDS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS
Better family histories are a mixture of printed materials (writing and illustration) and digital content on media such as CD-ROM and DVD. Cross generations by developing family history in printed materials, computer slideshows, television video, and Internet presentations.
